Union College Privacy Statement for Recruitment and Employment

Union College endeavors to protect the privacy of personal information.  The personal information requested is collected solely for assessing your application for employment (If you are successful in obtaining a position, your personal information will form part of your employment record).  By submitting your application to Union College, you consent to the collection and use of the information provided for this purpose.  Failure to provide requested information could result in the College’s inability to assess and advance your application.  Material omissions and/or falsifications may result in an offer of employment being rescinded or immediate termination of employment. 

Background Checks

By submitting your application, you further authorize Union College to investigate all statements contained in your application for employment as may be necessary in arriving at an employment decision.  Any offers of employment will be contingent upon completion of a successful background check.  The information collected by Union College, as part of a background check, will be used only by Union College and only for determining your suitability for employment.  In conducting a background check, Union College will comply with the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act and applicable state laws, including providing you with any required notices and forms.    Consistent with legal requirements, Union College reserves the right to require you to sign a background check authorization and release form as a condition of employment.

Disclosure

To protect your privacy, Union College limits disclosure of personal information to Union College and designated agents of Union College, including but not limited to third party companies that conduct background checks on behalf of Union College.  Your information may also be disclosed pursuant to a subpoena or if otherwise required by law.
