Western Washington University is committed to safeguarding your personal data.  By completing and submitting a Western Washington University job application, you agree to allow Western to use your application information to conduct pre-employment screening as part of our recruitment and hiring process. This includes, but not limited to, a skills and qualifications assessment, employment verification, and reference checks. Failure to provide any of the required information may result in an incomplete application. 

Confidential Information

WWU is a federal contractor and is required to invite job applicants to voluntarily self-identify their demographic information, choosing not to self-identify will not subject you to any adverse treatment. WWU treats all individual demographic information as confidential to the extent allowed by law. This data is maintained separately from personnel files and is available only to a few WWU employees with a business need-to-know. WWU’s Human Resources, Office of Institutional Effectiveness, and Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance will use this information consistent with state and federal regulations and in furtherance of implementing an effective equal employment opportunity and affirmative action program.

Information to conduct a criminal background check and to verify employment eligibility is required but only from a finalist after having been given an official offer of employment.

Confidential information is maintained in a secure manner with limited access by WWU staff.
