UMBC's Privacy Statement for

Recruitment and Employment

 

Privacy of Information

The privacy of our applicants is important to us. This information is being collected solely for the purpose of recruitment and assessing your application for employment.  The University of Maryland, Baltimore County ("UMBC") will only use personal information, applications, and attachments for UMBC's recruitment purposes.  UMBC will not disclose this information, except as may be required by law.  UMBC may have an obligation to disclose this information in response to a legally sufficient subpoena, in accordance with a Maryland Public Information Act ("MPIA") request, other legal process, or to a public official lawfully entitled to know the information (e.g., Maryland Office of the Attorney General). If you are successful in obtaining a position, your personal information will form part of your employment record. 

Eligibility to Work

In order to be hired into the position for which you have applied, you must be a U.S. citizen or national of the United States, a foreign national lawfully admitted for United States Permanent Residence, or a foreign national authorized to work in the United States.  As a federal contractor, UMBC also participates in E-Verify, the federal online verification system.

Campus Safety

In accordance with the federal law, identified as the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998," by this notice, the UMBC Police is disclosing the availability of the UMBC Annual Campus Security Report (Clery Report) to all applicants.  A copy is available on the UMBC website at https://police.umbc.edu/clery/. Paper copies of the report are also available by request by contacting the UMBC Police Department at 410-455-3136 or e-mailing police@umbc.edu.
