Privacy Statement

The privacy of applicants is important to us.  We take precaution to protect your personal information.  This information is being collected solely for the purpose of recruitment and assessing your application for employment. As a part of the recruitment process, the University of Wisconsin-Madison may conduct criminal background checks and personal information may be obtained from your references. If you are successful in obtaining a position, your personal information will form part of your employment record.

In submitting your application, you are consenting to us collecting and using this information for the purposes as indicated.  Failure to provide any of the requested details during our recruitment process might affect our ability to assess or further progress your application.

Please indicate in writing if you request that your identity be kept confidential. If you do not indicate your preference to remain confidential, the University may be required to disclose your identify and/or application materials. The identity of finalists and successful candidates will be revealed upon request. See Wis. Stat. sec. 19.36(7).

Proof of Identity and Eligibility to Work

Under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, the University of Wisconsin-Madison is required to verify the identity and work authorization of all new employees.  As a federal contractor, the University of Wisconsin-Madison also participates in E-Verify, the federal on-line verification system. 

To comply with these requirements, on or before your first day of employment, you must complete Section 1 of Form I-9.  Additionally, you must present documents that verify your identity and work authorization within the first three business days of your start date.  Should you fail to provide the appropriate documentation by the end of the third business day as required by law; your appointment will be terminated until you can provide such documentation.
