Bucknell University Privacy Statement for Recruitment and Employment

Privacy of Information

The privacy of applicants is important to us.  We take precautions to protect your personal information.  This information is being collected solely for the purpose of recruitment and assessing your application for employment.  If you are successful in obtaining a position, your personal information will form part of your employment record.

In submitting your application, you are consenting to us collecting and using the information for the purposes indicated, however, failure to provide any of the requested details during our recruitment process might affect our ability to assess or advance your application.

If an offer of employment is extended, human resources will collect social security numbers in compliance with federal and state laws for payroll and tax reporting and certain benefit providers.

Proof of Identity and Eligibility to Work

Under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, Bucknell is required to verify the identity and work authorization of all new employees.

To comply with these requirements, on or before your first day of employment, you must complete Section 1 of Form I-9.  Additionally, you must present documents that verify your identity and work authorization within the first three business days of your start date.  Should you fail to provide appropriate documentation by the end of the third business day as required by law, your appointment will be terminated until you can provide such documentation.

Equal Employment

Bucknell University, an equal opportunity employer, believes that students learn best in a diverse, inclusive community and is therefore committed to academic excellence through diversity in its faculty, staff, and students.  We seek candidates who will be committed to Bucknell's efforts to create a climate that fosters the growth and development of a diverse student body.  We welcome applications from members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in higher education.
